Purpose

As a Software Programmer, you will have practical software developer experience within a evolving development environment and are passionate about delivering robust and performant applications.

To create secure and functional codes. You may have to provide quality coding solutions both for simple applications and complex information or operating systems.

You will also be responsible for ensuring best practices are always adhered to which will ensure quality is maintained across the microservices and products.

Interrelations

The position reports to the Global Development Director

Formal authorities

• To execute software program solutions.
• To liaise with colleagues on establishing free flowing and effective software programs

Main responsibilities

• Collaborate with business analysts and developers to produce software designs
• Formulate program specifications and basic prototypes
• Transform software designs and specifications into high functioning code in the appropriate language
• Integrate individual software solutions to higher level systems
• Use web-based tools to create advanced SaaS when applicable
• Test code periodically to ensure it produces the desirable results and perform debugging when necessary
• Perform upgrades to make software and systems more secure and efficient
• Collaborate with technical writers to create documentation for user support

Accountabilities

Ensure that the QUALITY of the service rendered is up to Menzell Döhle Group standards. Responsible to ensure software programmes created are value adding and effecting to the daily workflow

Main Qualifications

• Fluent in English speaking, reading and writing
• Currently residing in Kenya
• Have a clean police conduct report
• Proven experience as a programmer or relevant role
• Ability to program in languages such as C++, Java (J2EE), XML, Python etc.
• Experience in developing web applications using at least one popular web framework (JSF, Wicket, GWT, Spring MVC)
• Excellent knowledge with relational databases, SQL and ORM technologies
• Detail-oriented and excellent concentration ability
• An analytical mindset and critical thinking
• Demonstrable ability to discover and fix errors in code
• BSc/BA in computer science, software engineering or relevant discipline
• Preferably with experience in the port agency industry
• Strong management, interpersonal skills and customer relationship building skills
• Ease to communicate effectively and clearly
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure
• Strong attention to detail
• Reliable, enthusiastic and professional ATTITUDE
• Confident in relating to different organisational levels
